We are approaching the end of Spring Term 2 and busy preparing for the Easter Break
We are a group of Year 7 boys and girls who enjoy learning and have fun finding creative ways of doing it!
During this half term we will be learning several topics:
English - "Opinion and Persuasion" where we have been reading texts that aim to get children thinking about the authours motives and the tactics they use to make the reader side with their cause.
We have also been studying the complex play "The Tempest" by William Shakespere. We have enjoyed the inverweaving of storylines, character arcs and themes of the play as well as practicing our own acting skills by performing scenes from the play!
Reading - "Street Child" by Berlie Doherty is our novel this term and we have heard about the tale of poor Jim Jarvis the orphan workhouse-runaway who has to navigate Victorian London all by himself. We have enjoyed making comparrisons to Charles Dickens "Oliver Twist" and learning more about the life of people during that time using cross curricular links with History.
Mathematics - Unit 5: Factors and Multiples
This unit has tested out ability to identify multiples and factors of numbers and pairs of nubmers. We have done well using these skills to solve real-life problems involving these strategies. Good luck for our upcoming unit test everyone!
Geography - Unit 5 Rivers
Our class have been busy tracking the river Thames from source to mouth and learning about all the features along it's journey. We have looked at the physical and the human geography of the river including how the river is used by mankind.
History - Life in the Middle Ages.
We have looked into the life and times of Medieval England after the Norman invasion of 1066. We have explored how life chaged after William the Conquerer came to Britain and how life was affected by the arrival of these invaders and subsequent successors.
Computing - Scratch
We have been learning about programming using the Scratch tool online. This has allowed us to learn about how to build a program that acts like a game. So far we have built games such as: A clicker, a chase game, a amaze game, exploration game, and a catching game. This has been tricky but we are learning how to debug our programs and improve them!
Art -
PE - Targetting games such as dodgeball, football, pool, and even some archery! (KIT NEEDED WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY)
Design Technology -

Music - Keyboards/Piano
Science - Structure and functions of body systems.
Our class have enjoyed learning how our body works, right down from basic cells, right upto entire bodily systems such as the muscular system. We have learned the major bones, joints and muscles of the body and how they fucntion.

Healthy routines, influences on health, puberty, unwanted contact
Careers - Creativity

News Items and Trips:
So far this half term we have been on walks to Rivington Pike and Darwen Tower as well as Crosby Beach and the local park. We aim to do Moel Famau, West Kirby, Llangollen and Wepre Park before the end of the year!
