OUR CLASS:
Welcome to all our pupils and all our families. We have had a very good school year, so far and pupils are making fantastic progress. We are all very proud of them.
In our class…
- We aim for 100% attendance every week.
- We show kindness to our peers and our adults.
- We try our best in all lessons so that we can be the best that we can.
- We use good manners to everyone in school.
- We use our strategies, when we feel frustrated because we know that help and support is always availble, when we need it.
- We take responsibility for ourselves and our actions.
- We are proud of our achievements and how we progress, when we are at Newfield.
- Staff love to hear how well we are doing and help us to be even better.
- We have fun learning together.
OUR LEARNING:
We experience a wide range of lessons in all of these subjects. We also enjoy school trips and attending a range of activities that happen in and around school.
I have attached our class timetable so you have an overview of our learning.
This term we will be studying the following:
- English = Pride / The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe
- Mathematics = Decimals / Money/ Time / Shape / Statistics
- Science = Living things and their habitats and deforestation/ Animals including Humans
- Geography = What is it like in Whitby?
- History =Invaders and Settles - the Vikings
- Computing = Spreadsheets
- PSHE & RSE = Money Matters / Growing Up
- Religion =What difference does it make to believe in.........?: Christianity / Judaism / Buddism
- Music = Ukulele - Our first Chord / A Minor Miracle
- Design & Technology = Seasonal Food / if time Iluminated signs
- Art = Hot air balloon / Birds eye View / Street Art
- Physical Education = Swimming and Team Sports
SWIMMING: Mondays - please bring in a suitable swimsuit / trunks plus a swimming cap and towel.
PE: Wednesdays - please bring in your school PE kit (plain black or navy shorts / plain black or navy jogging bottoms, a plain white top and trainers).
News Items:
This term we have been focussing on learning times tables ready to sit the MTC test. We are enjoying this part of our curriculum learning and are enjoying progressing. MTC Test window is from 2nd June - 13th June
Our novels have been very varied. We love reading as well as listening to stories.
So far this year we have studied: The Iron Man; The Tin Forest; Cinnamon; The Fox who Stole the Moon. We look forward to studying Pride and The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.
We enjoy going on trips as rewards for our good learning and good behaviour. Have a look at some of our pictures below, so you can see what we enjoy. We encourage our puils to increase ther social skills , playing with each other and lerning how to be together. Ask your children which ones they are enjoying the most - I'm sure they will all tell you about their days out. Recently we have visited Springfield Park, next to Alder Hey. It is a fantastic park and we would definitely recommend it.
Events:
Apple of My Eye come into school for a wide range of events and our pupils enjoy cooking with them.
We are looking forward to Apple of My eye joining us for our Easter event. Children can make their Easter Bonnets at home, if they want and bring them in.
We have lots of exciting trips and events to look forward to - look out for the letters coming home, to let you know about them. As always, any events we host in school, we invite our families in. We really enjoy you seeing what your children do and having fun with us (as well as a cuppa and a cake) .
HOMEWORK:
Reading:
- In class, we read every day.
- Please also aim to read each evening, either on your own or to an adult.
- Read all types of print in books, comics, newspapers, online etc - and please remember to tell your staff. We love hearing about your interests.
Spellings:
- Remember to learn your weekly spellings. These get sent home each week.
TimesTables:
- Please learn your times tables.
- You have log on details for TTRockstars - you do this in school, but you can also access this at home too.
OUR FAMILIES:
- All our families give us fabulous support throughout the year and for that we thank you. We really appreciate you.
- Together we are a fantastic team, looking after your children and teaching them, and encouraging them to be the best they can be.
